Polyester fiber fabric features

The chemical structure

The basic constituent of polyester is polyethylene terephthalate, whose molecular formula [-oc-ph-cooch2ch2o -]n is also known as polyester fiber (PET). Its chemical structural formula of long chain molecule is H(OCH2CCOCO)NOCH2CH2OH, and its relative molecular weight is generally around 18000~25000.

In fact, there are a few monomers and oligomers present.

These oligomers have low degree of polymerization and exist in a circular form.

Polyethylene terephthalate (PTA) and ethylene glycol (EG) can be condensed from ethylene terephthalate (9BHET) by direct esterification.

From the molecular composition of polyester, it is composed of short aliphatic chain, ester group, benzene ring, end alcohol hydroxyl.

In addition to the presence of two alcohol hydroxyl groups, polyester fiber has no other polar groups, so the hydrophilicity of polyester fiber is very poor.

Polyester molecules contain about 46% ester groups, which can be hydrolyzed and pyrolyzed at high temperature, and saponated when alkali occurs, resulting in a lower degree of polymerization.

Polyester molecules also contain aliphatic hydrocarbon chain, which can make the polyester molecules have a certain flexibility, but because the polyester molecules can not rotate the benzene ring, so polyester macromolecule is basically rigid molecules, molecular chain is easy to maintain linear.

Therefore, polyester macromolecules are easy to crystallize under this condition, so polyester has higher crystallinity and orientation.


The physical structure

The morphological structure of polyester obtained by melt spinning has circular cross section and no special longitudinal structure.

The filamentous fibril tissue can be observed under the electron microscope.profiled fibril can change the elasticity of the fibril, make the fibril have special luster and turgor, improve the ability of binding and covering of the fibril, resist pilling, reduce static electricity and so on.

If the triangle fiber has flash effect;

Hollow fiber has low density and good heat preservation because of its hollow cavity.


Aggregate structure

The thickness of the polyester folded chain wafer measured by electron diffraction is about 10NM, while the length of the polyester monomer is 1.075nm. Therefore, it can be considered that the thickness of the chip is equivalent to the monomer length of 9 polyester molecules.

However, the polyester macromolecular chain length is about 1.075*130 (average degree of polymerization) =140NM, so the polyester chip crystal macromolecular chain must take the folded chain structure.

Folding may occur at the ch2-ch2-chain segment, because the chain is flexible and easy to fold.

In addition, polyester macromolecules can also form elongated chain crystals (fibrillation crystals).

It can be seen that polyester internal folding chain crystallization and fibril crystallization coexist.

The ratio of the two kinds of crystallization varies with the stretching ratio and the thermal setting conditions.
